On Sunday’s edition of “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver,” the late night talk show host utterly destroyed the Washington Redskins, over the NFL franchise’s latest pathetic attempt to claim that their name and mascot aren’t offensive.
The Redskins’ recent “Take Yo Panties Off” defense, after a federal trademark judge ordered the cancellation of the team’s federal trademark registrations for disparaging Native Americans led to some hilarious and Not Safe For Work comedy.
In a three-minute segment, John Oliver named several of the products and company names that Daniel Snyder’s organization cited in their appeal. The Skins are claiming that these trademarked names have offensive language, but still have the support of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
