It’s a widely held notion that Head Coach Jason Garrett will be canned at the end of the season if the Dallas Cowboys don’t make the NFL postseason. It’s also been widely reported that Jason Garrett and QB Tony Romo have some serious tension between them.
Fox Sports Analyst Terry Bradshaw had some strong words for Jason Garrett and Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz:
“Jason Garrett in Dallas is no head coach.”
“He never should’ve been hired in the first place. He’s just a yes man for Jerry [Jones]. You look at Schwartz over in Detroit I don’t know what he is. I know one thing he’s no head coach either. The problem is, and everyone has already stated it, you don’t commit turnovers in Detroit. You don’t drop passes in Detroit. You have to be held accountable. You must have fear as a player. A coach has to control that locker room which means he has to control those players.”
He made these comments this morning on Fox NFL Sunday pregame show
Wow, so Bradshaw doesn’t think Garrett or Schwartz have the qualities to lead. He’s not the only on Schwartz. Lots of people think he’s in over his head, and they blame him for the Lions underachievement. The Jason Garrett comments are funny. A yes man? So basically he’s the Waylon Smithers to C. Montgomery Burns, the Martin Van Buren to Andrew Jackson, the Ed McMahon to Johnny Carson.
Fellow Analyst Jimmy Johnson on who is responsible for the Cowboys devastating defeat last Sunday in which they blew a 23-point halftime lead: “Let’s take a look at who is responsible for this debacle: [Bill] Callahan, [Tony] Romo, receivers not running the routes, Jason Garrett. If a player leaves the field early, who is he responsible to, who does he answer to, where is the fear? To have a championship team you have one voice, one leader, and that’s the head coach. Now, I love the Cowboys, but I don’t like the way this team is structured.”
Oh and it should be noted that Jimmy Johnson called the Detroit Lions “the most talented team in football” a couple weeks ago and that “they could go all the way.”
Good times.
