Leicester City Manager Claudio Ranieri has deemed Tottenham Hotspur the Premier League title favorite. Well, we could have told you that, but obviously the Foxes Boss opinion matters a lot more. The Leicester leader made the comments with the agenda of keeping his team loosed and relaxed down the stretch. In other words, he’s playing some mind games.
Ranieri said: “Tottenham, in my opinion, are favourites then Arsenal, Manchester City.
“Tottenham are strong in every situation. When they defend and when they attack they know what they want. Everyone is speaking about Leicester but nobody is speaking about Tottenham.
“We are the surprise, that is fantastic, a good energy, but if we are realistic the real competitors are City, Arsenal and Tottenham.
“Our job is done, we wanted to be safe and now there is something new. You can achieve something new if you think match-by-match.
“Now we are focused on West Brom, we know we can win, lose or draw but it’s not important what the other teams do.”
We agree with Ranieri. In our minds, Spurs are the current title front-runner and here’s an essay on why.
According to ESPN FC’s Soccer Power Index, Tottenham have a 30% chance of winning the league. Arsenal are at 18%, Leicester City 41% and Man City 11%. Manchester United, for what it’s worth are 0.2%.
Sports book Bet365 gives Tottenham 2-1 odds, Leicester 7-4, Arsenal 11-4, United 100-1 and City 6-1. In other words, it’s all wide open and totally up for grabs.
