Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is definitely one of the main players to watch today, and tomorrow, as the summer transfer window winds down. It was thought that his future had been determined, with a reported agreement in place to send him across town to Chelsea.
The Ox has nixed the £40 million move, according to the BBC, with the 24-year-old Englishman preferring to either move to Liverpool or stay at Arsenal.
Why is this not happening?
“Oxlade-Chamberlain believes the Blues planned to use him at wing-back, and his primary reason for wanting to leave Arsenal is to play in central midfield,” the BBC writes.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is part of the “contract expires at the end of this season” brigade at Arsenal, and if the Emirates don’t receive the kind of offer they would find acceptable within the next day and a half, risk losing him next season for free. Liverpool are expected to launch an official bid before the transfer window closes, so watch this space.
