Here we go again- in the summer it may have been “game over” regarding Real Madrid selling Gareth Bale to Manchester United, but now it’s game on. This is via a report from Spanish publication AS, who claim the Bernabeu have finally reached the rubicon with the Welsh winger.
AS calculates that Bale has suffered 19 injuries during his time with Los Blancos, and that has rendered inactive for 45% of the minutes that would have been available to him had he stayed match fit for his tenure with the club. The fibrillar fracture that he suffered this past Friday is finally a bridge too far for the Spanish giants.
Gareth Bale has been linked with a move away from Madrid for several transfer windows, with Manchester almost always the leading potential destination, but apparently this time it’s different.
AS writes that Bale: “has not played since September 19 and the fiber break he suffered on Friday will force him to stay at least another month. In addition, its reputation as a crystal player causes it has been devalued and its price does not exceed 70 or 80 million. This figure is very far from the 120 or 150 that United could have paid this year.”
Mourinho admitted big time interest in Bale from the club this summer after their bid failed, but now it appears they could acquire the attacking player for a cut rate. All the mounting injuries have made Gareth Bale an asset that’s depreciated in value, apparently below the world record breaking amount that Real paid for him when they struck a deal with Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.
Mourinho made it very clear that he wanted a fourth player this summer transfer window, and that player was supposed to be an attacking midfielder/winger. The target was Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic, and obviously it never came to fruition. Obviously, Bale would suffice as fulfillment of this particular need.
