Today’s Louis van Gaal press conference held with the purpose of previewing Manchester United‘s third game against Newcastle, featured very little, if any talk about the actual match. Instead, there was plenty of talk about Pedro (as expected) and also Executive Vice President Ed Woodward. Louis van Gaal says he has complete faith in executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward to look after transfers. It comes after their aborted move for Pedro, who signed for Chelsea.‘ Van Gaal says that Ed Woodward and himself communicate with one another daily and that the media have spun a false narrative which claims the two men don’t see eye to eye.

The Ed Woodward material might be the most important part of this presser, but the Dutchman discusses the fine line he constantly has to work between answering media questions directly and truthfully while at the same time protecting the interests of the club and his players.
