Manchester United achieved a badly needed win today, taking all three points from the defending champions Leicester City. United won very convincingly, on the strength of goals from Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrik Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata.
The last player listed there admitted he was “probably a bit lucky” to not draw red and get sent off, due to a strong challenge he made on Jamie Vardy in the 28th minute.
The referee at Leicester City, Anthony Taylor, gave him a yellow card rather than a red.

SHOULD Juan Mata have seen red for this challenge on Jamie Vardy? https://t.co/XDYVQFobLJ

Mata told Sky Sports: “I was late. I tried to reach the ball. I didn’t want to hurt him. I was probably a bit lucky there.”
The Spaniard would later score, providing United’s third brace of the match.

Juan Mata said of their 3-0 win: “The first was an incredible goal and, after that, we played very good and scored twice more. We are happy today because today we took the chances.”
