Jose Mourinho Takes Swipe at Antonio Conte Over Playing Style

In a very engaging and entertaining interview with The Times, Manchester United Manager Jose Mourinho responded to his critics that believe he plays too dull and pragmatic a style of football. Down the stretch in 2015, with a Premier League title already long wrapped up, Mourinho, then leading Chelsea, often “parked the bus.”

This led to fans of rivals chanting “boring boring Chelsea” at the Blues. For those who don’t care for his managerial tactics, Mourinho fired back in this interview, insisting that his penultimate Chelsea team was ‘more offensive’ than Claudio Ranieri’s Cinderella story Leicester City title winners, or Antonio Conte’s current reigning champions.

“For me, let’s be honest and objective,” said Mourinho.

“The last three Premier League champions – Chelsea with Mourinho, Leicester with Ranieri, Chelsea with Conte – which of these teams was the most offensive one? Which played more quality football? It was mine. But nobody says.”

Shots fired. Shade thrown. Swipe taken.

Also in this interview, Mourinho said that Lukaku, who cost £75 million in early July, would have cost £150 million on deadline day. Mourinho said that Neymar changed everything and had they waited the Belgian striker would have doubled in price.

Additionally in this interview, Mourinho said that he needs a third summer transfer window of signings to bring United up to the same level as the elites in Europe. In other words, it was an action packed exclusive that provided a ton of news during an international break, which is always a very slow news time.
