Manchester United have plenty of representation on one 2016 European Championship Team, but it’s unfortunately not one that you would want to be associated with.
ESPN FC Author John Brewin made his “Most Disappointing XI” at Euro 2016, and four, yes more than one-third of players are Red Devils. Take a look; United players in bold.
Anthony Martial (France) Thomas Muller (Germany) Raheem Sterling (England)
David Alaba (Austria) Bastian Schweinsteiger (Germany) Wayne Rooney (England)
Romelu Lukaku (Belgium) Lorik Cana (Albania) Sergio Ramos (Spain) Igor Smolnikov (Russia)
David de Gea (Spain)
Martial was burning up Twitter on Sunday, as many United fans expressed very strong opinions on why the French youngster didn’t enter the final until so very late.
Those opinions were mixed, as some United fans were outraged, while others were happy that he was rested and didn’t get a lot of workload to hamper him for the club season.
De Gea may or may not have been distracted by the sex scandal news which broke right as the Euro commenced. Rooney and Schweinsteiger, both national team captains, are starting to truly show signs of aging now.
Shifting to the other side of Manchester, you knew Raheem Sterling would make this list; given that whole petition to get him sent home thing.
