You may be wondering why David de Gea is dominating your Twitter timeline today. The Manchester United goalkeeper is implicated in a scandal involving alleged sex crimes. He stands accused of organizing a sex party with prostitutes in which non-consensual sex acts were allegedly committed.

Here’s a link to more on what we know as of now, with more much information likely to emerge as the day continues.

This story’s original source is number of court documents seen by Spanish newspaper El Diario .

Spain gave a press conference today, after the reports first emerged, but De Gea did not appear and any potential questions about the court case were blocked. Earlier reports claiming that De Gea was sent home from France and no longer with the Spanish National Team for the 2016 European Championships have been proven false. In spite of the allegations against him, De Gea is still currently training with Spain, and it’s believed that will even remain the starting #1 come Monday.

According to the Daily Mirror, De Gea is “with the Spanish squad and expected to start Monday’s Euro 2016 opener against the Czech Republic, but claims that he organised an abusive sexual encounter with prostitutes for Spain Under-21 teammates led to reports that De Gea would be sent home.”

“After consulting with his lawyers, De Gea will remain with the playing squad at Ile de Re in France. He is expected to train in this evening’s session.”

Aritz Aduriz and Hector Bellerin appeared at the Spain press conference today instead of De Gea. As of right now, neither De Gea, nor Manchester United, nor the Spanish football federation have made an official comment on these allegations.
