Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez may have a long term future with Manchester United. A lot of it depends on whether or not Old Trafford buys another striker this summer. United manager Louis van Gaal was asked about the place for Chicharito during the Red Devils preseason tour of the United States. Here’s how he answered the Hernandez query.
“I think that I have long-term expectations but you never know in this football world. Normally I have long-term expectations of him”,
In the recent past, Van Gaal said Chicharito “can prove himself again” and that “now Falcao and van Persie are gone, so his chances are better now.” The striker position belongs to Wayne Rooney with James Wilson as a back-up. Memphis says he can play striker and Van Gaal can also play Marouane Fellaini up front if needs be potentially.
In terms of where Hernandez might end up, the Daily Express claims that Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a £8 million bid for the Mexican international. Spurs Manager Mauricio Pochettino shot that down.
“About Javier Hernandez, those are rumours and nothing more,” Pochettino said after Tottenham’s 2-1 loss to the MLS All-Stars on Wednesday night in Colorado. “There is nothing concrete. He is a Manchester United player and logically a lot of names are getting suggested for Tottenham and Javier is just one more.”
