Manchester United Transfer Talk: Christian Eriksen, Romelu Lukaku

All the hype that entered this summer transfer window at Manchester United has essentially fizzled. MUFC have been linked with approximately 45,329 players this silly season, but only one, Daniel James, has actually been signed.

Hopefully, there will be more signings to talk about between now and when camp opens up on July 1, but until then, here are some of the top trending news items and transfer narratives in the Manchester United online community this weekend. Go here for part one of today’s Manchester United transfer talk.

We start with winger Christian Eriksen, who has declared his intent to exit Tottenham Hotspur this summer. However, he hasn’t totally ruled out the idea of coming back either.

It appears his dream move to Real Madrid isn’t going to happen (the Eden Hazard signing kind of killed off that off), as they have already made a lot of additions to their roster this season; including beefing up at his position. Now, according to the Mirror, the great Dane is considering a move to United, or Juventus.

Although it’s highly unlikely any move happens because, as has become an annual summer transfer window tradition, Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy has an astronomically unrealistic valuation. The Mirror claims that Levy sees Eriksen being worth £100 million.

So good luck with that.

Next we turn to the latest surrounding United striker Romelu Lukaku, who reportedly wants out of United and a move to Inter Milan, where he would get the opportunity to play for a manager he greatly admires, new boss Antonio Conte. The feeling is apparently mutual, as Conte wants to sign him, after trying and failing to do so in 2017.

So if both parties are keen- what’s the hold-up? Money, of course with reports that United and Inter are still 25 million euro apart on the transfer fee. To make up the gap, there could be an Inter player going the other way, but there isn’t agreement on that either.

Striker Mauro Icardi could be that player, but it remains to be seen just how interested United are in this idea.
