Man United Likely to Miss out on Fabinho, Claims Report in France

Monaco midfielder Fabinho has been linked with a move to Manchester United pretty consistently over the past couple years. This narrative saw some increased traction the past couple weeks as the Brazilian himself recently admitted that the idea of a move to Man United seems “tempting.”

However, this transaction is looking less and less likely now as outlets in France report Paris Saint Germain are now swooping in. PSG is supposedly the favorite now too as United reportedly took too long to try and close the deal.

This is an excellent example of summer transfer window domino theory in action as the delay was reportedly caused by United focusing on Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic instead.

Matic to United is a deal that supposedly hinges on Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea, so it all circles back to Monaco and how willing they are to part with both of their star midfielders. 101 Great Goals writes that: “it looks very likely now that Fabinho will not be heading to Old Trafford, but to Paris instead. On Friday, L’Equipe report that PSG are accelerating their efforts to sign Fabinho for a cool 50 million euros.”

Meanwhile The People’s Person, who cited the same French report, write that “PSG are now expected to sign the Brazilian as they’ve made significant progress on a deal for the Monaco playmaker.”

It remains to be seen who the second signing of the United summer transfer window will be after Victor Lindelof, but as of right now, it’s highly unlikely to be Fabinho.
