Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk met the media a couple hours ago to preview tomorrow night’s blockbuster UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash at Manchester City. It’s a massive match, with a berth in the semifinals on the line, and tickets are a hot commodity. You can see the extremely high demand on the Football Ticket Pad website, where supporters of whichever side goes through can explore options for the next round.
Before we get to the semifinals however, let’s listen to what the most expensive player in Liverpool history and priciest defender ever in the entire world had to say during his information packed session.
We have the video of the entire Q&A embedded here for you below via YouTube.
Van Dijk says his side know how to beat the Citizens.
“They have so much quality, they are going to win the league, we know their strengths, we know their weaknesses,” VVD said.
“We need to be at 100 percent. Defending a 3-0 lead here will be a bit of a strange situation but we need to come with the mindset that it’s 0-0, and we want to win the game and we know we are capable of scoring goals.”
“We know also as a team we can defend well, pretty compact, we saw it in the second half at Anfield but the main thing is we definitely need to keep the mindset of winning the game instead of defending a lead.”
