Summer signing Victor Munoz cut his World Cup break short in order to join up with the rest of his Liverpool teammates. Munoz, who won the World Cup with Spain, explained in an interview with the club’s in-house media his decision to end his holiday prematurely:

“Obviously, pre-season is well under way and I was at the World Cup when the decision came through about the transfer. I was in a position there where I couldn’t play in the team for Spain so as soon as that competition was over the main thing on my agenda was getting here, training and getting to meet my team-mates.

Reds Team News

Munoz, 23, is unlikely to start, due to lack of training time with the rest of the Reds, but he should see some major minutes off the bench here. Meanwhile Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo are all back with the squad after their post-tournament holidays, and they should be involved here in some capacity.

Alexis Mac Allister is next, and he should rejoin everyonie after this match.

Joe Gomez, Hugo Ekitike, Conor Bradley and Jayden Danns all remain sidelined while Jeremy Jacquet, as well as Giovanni Leoni, Wataru Endo and Jeremie Frimpong are doubtful to probable (yes, we did actually go NFL style with the injury report there)
