The offseason has now arrived for Liverpool, as the Reds won’t be reunited again until training camp in July. However, it’s going to be a very busy summer, and certainly an exciting transfer window at Anfield, with a whole lot of topics to discuss.
Today is another active news day, so let’s take a spin through the headlines.
-Hate to re-open the wounds of last weekend’s 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Final, but you got to see Lego’s parody video of the match: (I know that was a very tough day for Liverpool supporters, so if it’s “too soon” maybe bookmark this link for now, and revisit this a couple months from now):
–Jurgen Klopp really isn’t among the list of supposed favorites/leading candidates to replace Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid, at least not to according to “conventional wisdom,” but the media are tossing his name into the conversation nonetheless. It’s obviously not the most realistic of scenarios, but hey that’s why we call this the “silly season.”
The Liverpool Offside, SB Nation’s Reds community, cite reports in Spain claiming Real are pursuing the German. The tone of the article is one of little, if any concern.
That TLO article also alerts us to another Jurgen Klopp news item, Deutschland magazine Kicker held a poll, and their country man was then dubbed the best manager in world football.
-The American National Soccer Hall of Fame introduced its 2018 class today with a series of surprise announcements and former Reds goalkeeper Brad Friedel made the cut.
Friedel had a decorated club career that spanned more than 20 professional seasons, including 17 in the Premier League. Between 1997 and 2015, Friedel made 450 league appearances in England’s top flight with four clubs: Liverpool (1997-2000), Blackburn Rovers (2001-08), Aston Villa (2008-11), and Tottenham Hotspur (2011-15).
