Jose Mourinho sticks up for Diego Costa; claims Arsenal is moaning

Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho doesn’t see any major issues in how his star forward Diego Costa performed today.

“Man of the match . . he plays like he has to play, and that is why stadiums are full and football is sold for millions,” Mourinho after his side beat Arsenal 2-0.

It was a match where the Gunners were playing out-manned for a significant amount of time. Arsenal center back Gabriel was dismissed after he let Diego Costa’s earlier bending of rules (to put it mildly) get to him. You can see footage of the play in question here.

The Special One rejects the idea that Costa bent the rules.

“What rules?” Mourinho replied to a reporter question on the topic. “Your rules?”

Here’s an interesting Tweet from Daniel Taylor, Chief football writer for The Guardian and The Observer, on the Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger post match press conferences:

Mourinho just as spiky as Wenger. The one time he lost to Arsenal, he says, there were "no excuses, not crying, not moaning," #CFC #AFC

Here’s what Mourinho said in his post match interview for television:

“I’ve played Arsenal 15 or 16 times and only once they didn’t moan, I don’t know why, maybe it was because they won that game, all the other matches, they have reasons.”

“To win derbies you need emotional control.”

"I've played @Arsenal 15 or 16 times and only once they didn't moan." Mourinho claims #AFC always complain. #CHEARS http://t.co/1XzawAl5yT
