On October 1st Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte switched his formation to a 3-4-3. That day saw the Blues beat Hull City 2-0.

In the next game, they defeated defending Premier League Champions Leicester City 3-0, then followed that up by thrashing Manchester United 4-0. Chelsea FC then bested Southampton 2-0, utterly destroyed Everton 5-0 and today vanquished Middlesbrough 1-0 today on the road.

Conte hailed the victory as a win achieved via different manner.

“I’m pleased because today we won a game in a different way if you compare it to the last five games,” Conte said after the win. “Today we won only 1-0 against a strong team with good organisation.

“I’m pleased because in the moments where we must suffer, we suffered, but we never lost our compactness.”

“We created chances to score the second goal and against this team it’s important to score the second goal to kill the game, because until the end anything can happen in this league.”

The Italian may have gotten used to winning in routs, by a very comfortable margin lately as the Blues have not given up a goal during their six game undefeated streak, and scored 17 of their own. Sunday was a different situation as the Blues won only by the slightest of margins.

“After two defeats against Liverpool and Arsenal, for sure it wasn’t simple to believe [we would have] six wins in a row and without conceding any goals. I’m pleased for this because it’s very difficult to have this success in this league. It’s fantastic.”
