Chelsea FC Began as Underdogs, but Now Favored Over Man City

Without a doubt, Chelsea FC hosting Manchester City is the blockbuster Premier League fixture of the weekend. It’s also a game that’s seen the favorite and underdog roles switch places throughout the course of the week.

The Blues started out as underdogs, but after an impressive performance at Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, the bookies have now made them slight favorites.

The best price you can currently find on Chelsea FC to win is 13/8. Compare this to City, who are best price of 19/10.

Punters have clearly taken note of Chelsea’s impressive efforts midweek, and since Wednesday’s fantastic result 43.1% of new bets that have come in, across all bookmakers, are backing Chelsea FC to win. Man City had the slightly higher percentage heading into Wednesday’s UCL games.

What is for certain is that bookmakers and punters are predicting a tightly contested game at Stamford Bridge, with nobody really quite sure how this one could go. A draw is currently the most profitable option right now, with one bookmaker offering it at 27/10.

Shifting from a team to an individual level, Chelsea FC striker Alvaro Morata, who’s drawn a ton of praise from Chelsea FC boss Antonio Conte, has seen a huge surge in bets to be the Premier League golden boot winner this season, with 42% of all bets on the market placed on the Spaniard after his hat-trick last weekend. Conte has described Morata as a good, complete player.

He is currently the 9/2 third favorite behind Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane (who also had a hat trick this week) and Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku (3/1), who’s scored 10 goals in 10 games.
