Tyler Eifert looking like Notre Dame go-to guy on Offense

-From Golden Tate to Kyle Rudolph to Michael Floyd to…Tyler Eifert. Notre Dame has seen a primary pass-catcher emerge each year and then end up a high pick in the NFL Draft following a breakout season. Floyd will get the call next week, probably in the top 10-15. Eifert should be a top 20 pick in 2013. Which means the senior tight end will become a household name this fall in South Bend.

Watch as Eifert potentially becomes the go-to guy for the ND offense.

Coach Brian Kelly talked about Eifert’s versatility, and what he brings to the table.

“He’s a guy that has to replace the production loss of Michael Floyd,” Kelly told the media following the Blue-Gold game.

“To do that, we have to be able to get him into some favorable positions.  Obviously, he’s not going to lock down just at the tight end position.  He’s a guy that can play at both a wide receiver.  Heck, he could play running back if we need him to.  He’s an incredible athlete and a versatile player, so we’ll take advantage of that skill.”

Eifert had two catches for 56 yards and a touchdown in today’s spring game.

He talked about what went right today.

“Just to get out there in a competitive environment, full go, and just see where I’m at. We don’t get a chance to go live very much, so when you do it just feels good to get back out there,” Eifert said.
