Chelsea FC visited the City of Manchester Stadium and emerged with a statement win today. Chelsea beat Manchester City 3-1 in this weekend’s Premier League headliner fixture. It was an extremely important and exciting affair but it was also tainted by an ugly brawl towards the end, which both managers discussed in their respective postgame press conferences.

The melee was sparked by a City striker Sergio Kun Aguero making a horrific challenge on Chelsea Defender David Luiz.

The play got Aguero sent off, and after the match Luiz was asked about the specific play, with the Blues defender refusing to discuss the incident. Instead he praised the City striker for being “amazing” at what he does.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Luiz said: “I don’t like to speak about these type of things. Aguero is an amazing player who does a lot for football.”

the Etihad and kept their winning streak going with a resounding 3-1 win at Manchester City. The Blues are now 8-0 in their last eight Premier League fixtures with a 22-2 goal differential in that span. Chelsea remains a top the table and now find themselves four points clear of Man City.

Luiz kept it above board, a very classy gesture to supplement the other gentlemanly action he took for this match. David Luiz dedicated Chelsea’s victory to the Chapecoense players who tragically lost their lives in an airplane crash on Monday.

Seventy one people, including the Brazilian top-flight club players, support staff, journalists and the pilot, perished in the crash. Six other people on board survived the horrendous tragedy.
