Cesc Fabregas Now Attracting Interest from Manchester United, Liverpool

Cesc Fabregas didn’t want to move on this summer transfer window.

Instead he wanted to stay at Chelsea FC to work hard, improve and hopefully find his place in the system of then new head coach Antonio Conte. While he hasn’t made the regular first team under Conte, he has been hailed by his manager as “a football genius” and “top player,” at various instances so that’s something.

However the Express, along with many other outlets, claim that Fabregas is looking to force his way out of Stamford Bridge this summer.

Metro writes that both Liverpool and Manchester United are interested:

Jurgen Klopp is a long-term admirer of the 29-year-old central midfielder and is ready to attempt to lure him to Anfield this summer.

But he faces real competition from Jose Mourinho, who worked with the £30million-rated star at Stamford Bridge.

Cesc Fabregas, who has three years left on his deal, has been linked in the press recently this past year to multiple teams, including Manchester City, Real Madrid, Juventus and a possible return to Barca.

And beyond that….back in May, we received word that Chelsea were looking to offload Cesc Fabregas. This notification came via email from a people claiming to be a member of the Chelsea board, but lacking any sort of verifiable status that he in fact held the position he claimed.

That highly questionable source told The Sports Bank of several teams interested in Fabregas and holding talks with Chelsea at the time. They claimed that West Ham United had the highest bid, and found themselves in pole position for the player.

That idea just didn’t smell right at all, so we of course didn’t publish it. The former Arsenal man has also been linked with a move to the Chinese Super League, but Shandong Luneng denied rumors they are attempting to sign the midfielder.

They did so in a very colorful way too. The statement on the club’s Weibo channel reads:

“Fabregas is not our cup of tea. Recently, some reports have spread the word that Shandong will buy new foreign players. Bear in mind, now that Chinese New Year is over, this fake news can be stopped. This news is all untrue.”

“This season Shandong won’t sign any new foreign players. We have already reduced the number of our foreign players by transferring or loaning them out. We have started our youth system development.”

“How about we develop our own Fabregas?”

I have to admit ignorance on what Chinese New Year has to do with all this, but they do sound like Donald J. Trump with the “FAKE NEWS” bit.

Maybe Shangdong, as a joke, can trot out Kellyanne Conway and she can talk “alternative facts?” Just for fun.
