Manchester United club legend and Sky Sports television pundit Patrice Evra is making headlines for all kinds of reasons today. He started to become a worldwide trending news topic yesterday, after Sheffield United beat Arsenal 1-0, and Evra he slammed the club as a whole, and criticized the concept of Granit Xhaka serving as the Gunners captain.
Xhaka has hit back at that today, and we covered that in this post. For now, there’s another Patrice Evra story making the rounds, it’s the discussions he’s been having with Old Trafford to return to the club, this time in a coaching role. Evra has been retired as a player since July, and he’s working on earning his badges in his next vocation- coaching.

“I’m having some important talks behind the scenes and we’ll decide whether I will work for the club in a certain role or not we’ll see, but I want to make it clear because some people think I’m already working for United but no, there’s been some talks, but at the moment I’m only doing my badges.”

There are many issues and problems at United these days, so Evra knows that he would potentially be getting himself into a very challenging situation, should he take a job there. The club has been searching for a football director, someone to work with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and CEO Ed Woodward on player acquisition and recruitment.
This search has been so fruitless and gone on for so long that one wonders how serious Old Trafford really is in that endeavor. In terms of coaching though, it would probably be a great fit to have Evra on board, as he’s someone who knows the club culture and history so well.
They certainly are a far cry from where they were under Sir Alex Ferguson these days, but Evra won a lot of medals and trophies during his day. Over the course of 2006-2014, Evra was a part of a club that won one Champions League and five Premier Leagues.
