Marcus Rashford is a “Special Kid” Says Juan Mata

Crystal Palace have been utterly dreadful and laughably inept, but Manchester United dispatched them just as decisively as one should this past weekend. The Eagles still have not even scored this season, and they’re now 0-7, with no draws and a -17 goal differential on the season.

There were many heroes for United against Palace, one of which was Marcus Rashford, who provided the assist to Juan Mata when the Spaniard scored the Red Devils’ opening goal of the 4-0 rout.

Mata praised the young Englishman after the game:

“I think he’s been brilliant. I think he’s a special kid. I think he has a lot of talents and he’s got a good mentality, which is important at that age. He’s performing very well, week-in, week-out. Even coming from the bench he’s helping a lot. I really believe he is going to be a big player for club and country.”

Rashford burst onto the scene a couple years ago making his scoring presence felt right from the get go. He found the score sheet in his debut and never looked back. Marcus Rashford has scored or assisted on nine goals in the last ten games across all competitions. He’s locked in a position battle with Anthony Martial right now, but both young forwards are finding time on the pitch and being very productive with those minutes.

Mata continued to sing Rashford’s praises.

“It’s down to everything he does on the pitch, the qualities he has, the important player he is in some difficult games where he just takes the ball and scores two great goals, like in the League Cup,” Mata continued.

“I see so many players at that age like this, and then they don’t keep consistency, but I believe he can because it’s down to his mentality and he has the right mentality for that.”
