Man United to increase security around Louis van Gaal

It’s official, the Manchester United supporter backlash against Louis van Gaal has now reached, or even surpassed, the vitriol for David Moyes. It’s now become a bit alarming and a tad bit frightening. Some people out there definitely need to relax, settle down and take a few deep breaths. There is never any excuse or justification for verbal threats; ever.

What’s downright scary about this situation is that the club’s concerns have already escalated beyond threats. They are genuinely worried about Van Gaal being in physical harm’s way.

Today, The Sun reports that “Manchester United have beefed up security for Louis van Gaal after fans at Old Trafford turned on him.”

The publication goes on to say that:

“Extra minders were brought to the dugout area as tempers boiled over during the 2-1 defeat to Norwich on Saturday. There were clearly real fears that home fans might have tried to get to the Dutchman. The extra security will remain in place if Van Gaal is still in charge for United’s next home match against Chelsea on December 28.”

Numerous other outlets have picked up on this story, as we all await word on the job status of Louis van Gaal. Twitter has already “deemed him sacked” about 20 times today already, and appointed Jose Mourinho in his place. We posted some of the better Tweets mocking Twitter’s Van Gaal “reporting” today.

However, it seems pretty clear that no actual decision will be made until after the Boxing Day match against Stoke City.
