Harry Kane converts PK after controversial Raheem Sterling call (video)

Tottenham Hotspur have beaten Manchester City 2-1 at the Etihad tonight, and now won five in a row in the Premier League. They’re also unbeaten on the road over their last 12. #COYS are just two points behind Leicester City for the top of the table. The club’s first league title since 1961 is right there for the taking.

Harry Kane opened the scoring tonight against his England teammate and Man City goalkeeper Joe Hart on a penalty kick. The PK was set up by a very controversial handball call on City forward Raheem Sterling.

The announcer, Everton and Team USA keeper Tim Howard, says it’s a terrible call on Sterling. He’s right (not a huge fan of a currently active player calling another team’s games, but we’ll save the journalism ethics discussion for another time).

Howard is right in that’s an awful, awful, awful call. Sterling had his back turned, so there’s way that’s an intentional hand ball foul. It’s like a chicken wing contact. Sterling’s arm wasn’t extended enough to call the penalty.

People will be debating this one for a very long time as it was critical in this game. And this game was critical for the title race. Tottenham were very fortunate, and Harry Kane seized the opportunity.
