The Tampa Bay Bay Buccaneers are going Kakfaesque. Sort of.
Yes, after failing to make a significant impact with the New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars and Philadelphia Eagles, Mike Kafka is promoted from the Buccaneers practice squad, to the active roster.
From the SB Nation T.B. Buccaneers blog Bucs Nation:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers have promoted quarterback Mike Kafka to the active roster, another sign that Mike Glennon is likely to start on Sunday while Josh McCown recovers from a thumb injury. To make room for Kafka, the Bucs waived guard Rishaw Johnson, and added offensive lineman Josh Allen to the active roster.
Somehow, Oniel Cousins survives once again
The legendary philosopher, author and critical thinker Franz Kafka once said:
“If I shall exist eternally, how shall I exist tomorrow?”
The answer:
Mike Kafka, a former Northwestern and St. Rita (Chicago) star, exists as QB2 in T.B. for the time being. He’ll hope to exist in the short term future as QB3.
Kafka, 26, was originally a fourth-round draft pick (122nd overall) by the Philadelphia Eagles out of NU in 2011. He played in four games as a rookie, completing 11 of 16 passes for 107 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. Kafka was released by the Eagles on Aug. 31, 2012, and spent last year not playing football. He did look decent in that Sunday Night game a couple years ago when he saw significant time relieving an injured Mike Vick.
Mike Kafka is probably best remembered for the insane numbers he put up in the 2010 Outback Bowl vs Auburn. It was a very exciting, back-and-forth, pass happy overtime loss for Northwestern. The Tigers would go on to be college football champions the very next season.
