NBC and Notre Dame renewed their television partnership for 10 more years; extending it through the 2025 season. That means the BFF relationship between Notre Dame and NBC will last 35 years.
The new deal begins during the 2016 campaign and gives NBC rights to a minimum seven Notre Dame home games every college basketball season. NBC Sports Digital (“digital” is word that old people and corporate types use instead of “the internet” or “online”. Seriously, what’s with this “digital?” hoo-ha. Does everything else become analog by default?) will continue to live stream Notre Dame home games, as the network has done since 2009.
So way to get out in front of that whole “internets” trend by embracing it fully in 2009.
ND and the peacock first kicked off the partnership in 1991, when NBC began televising Irish college football home games. Revenue streams from the NBC television contract contribute to the Notre Dame scholarship fund, giving nearly $80 million in financial aid to Notre Dame students over the duration of the deal. So obviously, the NBC television contract and the revenue it generates are huge boons to Notre Dame recruiting.
