Shocking no one, the organization said via GM Stan Bowman, that they are disappointed, and consider these photos to be really bad publicity.
Thus ends the bizarre public silence on the matter. And by the matter I mean Kaner allowing himself to appear in public apparently passed out drunk, rolling around on the ground with college kids and sporting a t-shirt made of a photo of himself that most people would consider embarrassing.
Not #88 though.
Bowman addressed the media on conference call; discussing recent re-signings.
From the Chicago Tribune:
Hawks general manager Stan Bowman said the club was “disappointed” by photos that emerged of the star forward partying in Madison, Wis., earlier this month — in what the team at least hopes to be its first and last public comments about the situation.
“Obviously, we’re aware of that situation and we followed it closely,” Bowman said as part of a conference call to discuss the signings of Johnny Oduya and Jamal Mayers.
“We discussed it with Patrick. We’ve handled that internally. We’re obviously disappointed with how it played out and Patrick is aware of that fact. At this point, it’s a private matter. Out of respect for Patrick, we’re not going to comment further. We’re going to look forward.”
Pretty standard, boiler plate damage control type stuff. Nothing interesting or insightful. But hey, at least they said something finally.
