Like Emperor Palpatine said to Skywalker, “I feel your anger, give in to your hate.” Especially if you’re a Michigan, USC, Michigan State, Purdue, Boston College, Miami or just plain college football fan.
The most polarizing team in the land, Notre Dame, the college gridiron version of Rush Limbaugh (lots of fans, lots of haters) is the only remaining unbeaten, #1 in both polls.
Within hours they’ll assume the #1 spot in the BCS, when it’s officially announced. The last time they were #1 was 1993, Lou mush mouth Holtz was their coach, Kevin McDougal was their QB. Again, as then, they’re led by a black quarterback, something that a large part of their fan base covertly dislikes.
So, the Irish are just a win over a very overrated, underachieving USC team away from playing for the national title. Much to the chagrin of many college football fans.
What’s funny though is how likeable the Irish are in college basketball. Seriously Mike Brey is awesome, as is his program.
