The Cleveland Browns re-upped with Pro Bowl offensive tackle Joe Thomas last night. He was given a seven-year, $84 million extension with roughly $44 million in guaranteed money. Thomas was to enter the final year of his rookie contract; which he signed after being taken with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft. That followed a stellar career with the Wisconsin Badgers in which he was one of the Big Ten’s most dominating OL in history.
Thomas is thought to be one of the NFL’s best left tackles, and as the movie “The Blind Side” taught us, Premier LTs are getting PAID. They’re becoming the second position group after quarterbacks. Thomas has made the Pro Bowl each and every of his four years in the league, and so far looks like he’s bound for Canton.
