What should the Cleveland Browns do with their first 3 draft picks?

Colt McCoy Probably Won’t Play Again this Season

Cleveland Browns Quarterback Colt McCoy still isn’t 100% recovered from the brutal concussion he suffered two weeks ago on a head shot from Pittsburgh Steelers defender and brutal killing machine James Harrison.

Update 12-29: from the AP

Browns quarterback Colt McCoy still can’t practice three weeks after sustaining a concussion.

McCoy hasn’t been cleared by team doctors and likely will miss his third straight game Sunday against Pittsburgh. McCoy hasn’t been on the field since he was blasted by Steelers linebacker James Harrison on Dec. 8. Harrison was suspended one game for the illegal helmet-to-helmet shot.

Browns coach Pat Shurmur has not yet ruled out McCoy for the season finale, but it’s almost certain backup Seneca Wallace will start.

McCoy hasn’t practiced at all since the hit and he was home early today after doing “a little physical activity,” coach Pat Shurmur says. McCoy will not travel with the team to Baltimore for Saturday’s game.

Indianapolis Colts Feeling Effects of Peyton Manning’s Absence

So it’s really going to be this way.

The Indianapolis Colts really are struggling this mightily without Peyton Manning at quarterback, as evidenced in Sunday’s 27-19 loss to the Cleveland Browns in the team’s home opener at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Colts, 0-2 for the first time since Manning’s rookie season, lost 34-7 to Houston in Week 1, but the Texans had a much better pass rush than the Browns, and the Colts defense played in a similarly sluggish fashion against Houston in last year’s season opener.

You’d figure the Week 2 matchup with Cleveland at home would be a better indicator of how the Colts can do without Manning. It was.

Cleveland Browns Re-sign Joe Thomas: 7 Years, $84 Million, $44 Million Guaranteed

The Cleveland Browns re-upped with Pro Bowl offensive tackle Joe Thomas last night. He was given a seven-year, $84 million extension with roughly $44 million in guaranteed money. Thomas was to enter the final year of his rookie contract; which he signed after being taken with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft. That followed a stellar career with the Wisconsin Badgers in which he was one of the Big Ten’s most dominating OL in history.

NFL Preseason Week One: Biggest Winners and Losers

The first week of the preseason produced many surprising standouts on some teams and left much to be desired for others. Some winning teams emerged along with players who experienced real personal wins through their outstanding performances. Why Browns Peyton Hillis is not a top 15 Fantasy Running Back

When I put together my early 2011 fantasy football running back rankings Peyton Hillis missed the cut. After 1654 total yards (1177 rushing, 477 receiving) and 13 touchdowns (11 rushing, 2 receiving) there are questions at the validity of my rankings. Well, I’m here to defend my rankings.

Cleveland Browns GM Tom Heckert admitted that Hillis received too many touches last year. After just 68 carries and 18 catches in his first two seasons, Hillis had 270 carries and 61 catches. His numbers suggest that the heavy workload led to Hillis wearing down. After 11 touchdowns in the first 11 games, he went scoreless in the Browns’ final five games. After averaging 116.6 total yards through the first 13 games, he averaged 46 over the final three games. If that decline doesn’t give you pause, you have more intestinal fortitude than I do.

Can the Cleveland Browns Peyton Hillis Do it Again in 2011?

Cleveland Browns NFL Draft Preview

It’s NFL Draft season and once again the Cleveland Browns are picking in the top ten. And once again they have plenty of needs. In a more pass-happy league, they require more true pass-rushers for the newly installed 4-3.

Not to mention help in the secondary and a real wideout to pair with QB Colt McCoy, a very nice mid-round surprise last year.

Here’s what I have mocked to them in the first three rounds
