Bears Matt Forte feels disrespected by Michael Bush signing

Get ready for the Matt Forte holdout once Chicago Bears preseason begins at Camp Bourbonaiss. Via Twitter, Forte publicly expressed his disgust and the Bears signed tailback Michael Bush to a four-year contract worth $14 million, including $7 million guaranteed. Forte, who was slapped with the Bears’ franchise tag earlier this month instead of a long-term deal, tweeted:

“There’s only so many times a man that has done everything he’s been asked to do can be disrespected! Guess the GOOD GUYS do finish last….

Plaxico Burress says he wants to join the Philadelphia Eagles

plaxico burress

Embattled NFL receiver Plaxico Burress appeared on 97.5 The Fanatic on Tuesday and stated, “nothing else would make me happier” than joining the Eagles. Burress said the Eagles had “a lot” of interest in him last year. Although the New York Jets obviously were more interested.

It appears the former Michigan State star would like to trade in last year’s green-and-white for green-and-silver. Burress made $3 million on a one-year-deal last season with the Jets. But don’t expect a ton of teams to be fawning over him at this point.

Detroit Lions 2011 Season: Game by Game Breakdown

suh

I am tired of tv pundits and radio talk show hosts throwing around win totals and predictions without going into detail before throwing out their opinions. Sometimes a reaction from the audience seems to be more important than giving an informed take on things. In my previous Lions blog, I went into the high hopes surrounding the Lions for this upcoming season.

What follows is a game by game synopsis of why I believe the team will achieve a minimum of nine wins this season. If I were to move or up or down from that number, I would say that they are actually closer to the total of ten than eight.

Cleveland Browns Re-sign Joe Thomas: 7 Years, $84 Million, $44 Million Guaranteed

The Cleveland Browns re-upped with Pro Bowl offensive tackle Joe Thomas last night. He was given a seven-year, $84 million extension with roughly $44 million in guaranteed money. Thomas was to enter the final year of his rookie contract; which he signed after being taken with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft. That followed a stellar career with the Wisconsin Badgers in which he was one of the Big Ten’s most dominating OL in history.

San Francisco 49ers Desperately Sign QB Josh McCown

Word was the San Francisco Forty-Niners were pursuing a UFL signal-caller. Just a more big name UFL quarterback. I know I know “big name UFL” is an oxymoronic as it gets.

According to Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com, the 49ers signed qb Josh McCown. The length of the contract. A couple days ago, Maiocco reported the 49ers were pursuing Daunte Culpepper to become the team’s No. 3 quarterback. None of the Niners options look very promising. Not so franchise QB and former #1 overall pick Alex Smith is the starter. This year’s draft pick Colin Kaepernick will be the #2.

Better Options Were Available at Quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings

The consensus on national media outlets seems to be that the Vikings hit a home run in their acquisition of Donovan McNabb. Much of the reaction to all the transactions has been positive because there is a collective sigh of relief that they are relevant once again. Chris Mortenson and John Clayton obviously grew tiresome of commenting on the court proceedings.

Chad Ochocinco Ready for The Patriot Way, Bill Belichick Upbeat About Transactions

belichick

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick addressed the media this morning to discuss the recent additions of WR Chad Ochocinco and DL Albert Haynesworth, he also talked about the veteran cuts they had to make. There was some snarkiness by BB when asked about how the two additions will fit into how he does things.

Many are questioning how the colorful personalities will mesh with the Draconian program that Belichick runs. See more on that after the jump.

Ochocinco also spoke with reporters this morning and said he’s willing to change to fit in in Foxboro.

“I’ll always be me. But there’s a certain way the Patriots do it, and I’ve always been a chameleon, and I’m going to do it the Patriot way, which is win,” he said.

He also knows Belichick doesn’t want him to be quite as outspoken and attention-seeking as he was with the Cincinnati Bengals.

“Bill, we had our talk and without him having to say anything, I’ll say, there’s no need for some of the things that have been before,” Ochocinco said.

cam_newton_hate

The reigning number one overall pick is officially under contract. Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Panthers have agreed on a four-year, $22 million contract with Cam Newton. The deal, which is fully guaranteed, also includes a fifth-year, non-guaranteed option worth $14 million.

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora was right on the money. His sources told him earlier in the month that Newton’s contract would have a total value around $35 million, give or take a few pennies.
