Chicago Bulls Re-living Glory Days with Uniform Patch, Special Ceremony

When I was at Media Day, I noticed the The Chicago Bulls were rocking a new patch honoring the first world championship team. And I became nostalgic about junior high.

In 2010-11, a special 20th anniversary logo will be included on the upper right hand corner of the players’ uniforms and on the left sleeve of their warm-ups and shooting shirts. The logo will also be featured all season long in print materials including team publications, print advertising, tickets, brochures, Bulls.com and the scoreboard.

Announced yesterday, the logo celebrates the 20th anniversary of its 1991 NBA Championship, the first title which began the dynasty.

To commemorate the franchise’s first of six NBA titles, the Bulls will welcome back former players and coaches from the 1990-91 season for a recognition ceremony at halftime of the March 12 game vs. the Utah Jazz. Bulls’ legends and Hall of Famers Michael Jordan (yes, His Airness is coming!) and Scottie Pippen, John Paxson, and Stacey King are among those scheduled to attend and participate in the celebration.

“Of all my six Championships, the first one is the one I treasure the most,” said Scottie Pippen. “I look forward to getting together with all my former teammates on March 12 to relive those great memories.”

That 1990-91 team finished with a 61-21 record and won the NBA Championship on June 12, 1991 by defeating the Lakers 4-1 in the NBA Finals, winning the last three in L.A. Had it not been for a hersey Hawkins trey in the conference semifinals, and a Sam Perkins dagger in game two of the Finals, the Bulls would have run the postseason table that May/June.

Now I need to find my Jordan vs. Magic t-shirt from 1991.
