NFL Draft Stock SELLING: Connor Cook, Scooby Wright, Noah Spence

If the NFL Draft were a stock market, then this week, the Scouting Combine, would be some of most heavily traded days of the year. So Who’s stock increased/decreased in value?

This is who we’re SELLING:

Adolphus Washington, DT, Ohio State

Suspended from the Fiesta Bowl for soliciting a prostitute took him out of the first round conversation. Now he looked sluggish in Indy, which could likely drop him into day three territory.

Scooby Wright, LB, Arizona

Running a 4.90 in the 40-yard dash? You can’t likely be a first round pick with that stat unless you’re 280 pounds plus lineman, or a big quarterback with a cannon for an arm. Scooby Wright, once considered a first round prospect, now looks like a great college player, with an amazing skill set, but just very average athleticism.

Connor Cook, QB, Michigan State

Man, Connor Cook had a bad combine, ending a rough stretch.

Hard to believe this guy was slotted as high as #2 overall in a lot of mocks this past fall. He’s 3rd-4th round at best now as his stock is dropping like Twitter. Cook is one of the more interesting figures of this draft class as his value continues plummeting. Why didn’t his teammates elect him captain? Why didn’t Cook go to the Senior Bowl and wow everybody, and answer the critics?

What the hell was he thinking on the final drive of the Nebraska game? Why did he seem to get worse at the end of his career?

Noah Spence, DE, Eastern Kentucky

We thought this guy’s draft stock rating essentially tumbled to junk bonds after he had to leave Ohio State. But pre-combine there was once again talk he could he a first round pick. Edge rushers are something that everybody’s usually looking to buy.  But at this price when the speed isn’t there. A 40 time of 4.80, subpar drill work and questionable interviews mean there’s short covering again on his stock. Remember, he’s still dealing with the stigma from his personal history with the drug exstacy too.
