Comedian and sociopolitical pundit John Oliver described the credentials of professional “Social Media Experts” thusly:

“all it takes is wanting it bad enough, and not caring about whether strangers hate you or not.”

Sorry for quoting a Liverpool supporter in the intro, but the quote is somewhat apt when reporting on the never ending story that is the David de Gea transfer saga. Don’t get me wrong, there are lots of people out there doing excellent reporting out there as the transfer window ticks away its final hours but…

..there’s also a lot rubbish, nonsense, and fake stories planted in the media by agents with an exploitative agenda. Trying to sort the truth from the junk is difficult. Which brings us to your daily (and now 11th hour) David de Gea update.

Nothing is official yet of course, but here’s what is out there. De Gea to Real is done, and Keylor Navas is part of the deal in return

We’ve heard De Gea to Madrid is “done” dozens of times already. We’ve also heard that De Gea is “definitely staying” at United too. All we know for sure is that he hasn’t made an appearance for the Red Devils since they lost their final preseason game to Paris Saint Germain in Chicago.

De Gea looked pretty out of it in that 2-0 loss to PSG at Soldier Field, and everyone knows why. He really wants to come home, and he doesn’t want to wait a season to do it. Spain’s transfer window shuts in 4 hours, so time is running out.
