Alex Knoll left his mark at the Philadelphia PGA Championship with a first-round 62. The score broke a record that stood untouched for almost 80 years at that point, originally set by Sam Snead. It was clear that Knoll had his eyes on the prize after his record-breaking round, and he did indeed go on to dominate the entire championship. Knoll’s final record at the tournament was 62-69-79, winning by 2. Knoll will have to face his next challenge in Texas in April 2020, where he’ll be qualifying for the 2020 edition of the PGA Championship.
A History of Success
It’s not the first time Knoll has shown himself to be a go-getter, as the man has been making steady progress through the world of golfing for some time now. He’s already attracted quite the following as well, and many people are actively waiting for his next performance in Austin. The last round of the PGA Championship was a real challenge for everyone involved, but Knoll made it clear that he would not back down in his attempts to come out on top. Some of his fans seem to believe that we’re yet to see his best performance, and it would be interesting if that turned out to be true.
A Humble Hard-Hitter
And while Knoll doesn’t hide the fact that he’s done well so far, he also didn’t try to boast about the results. The player admitted that golf was a difficult sport, especially in the long run, and he claimed that this particular event had felt like the longest day in his professional history. However, he was probably not complaining much when he got back home later that day, judging by how satisfied he sounded with his results during the post-game interview. Hopefully, Knoll will take the opportunity to relax a little, as he has an even greater challenge ahead of him in his career.
Inspiring Beginners
It’s also worth noting that Alex Knoll has had a very positive impact on the golfing community as a whole, with many pointing to him as one of the main inspiring factors for newcomers in his region. His recent wins have sparked lots of discussions about various products and techniques, from PXG clubs to advanced training routines. Knoll himself has tried to distance himself from the more commercial aspect of the sport to some extent, but he’s still a very positive factor on the industry and the sport. Hopefully, he will remain one in the near future as well.
Can Knoll’s fans expect another record-setting performance from their favorite player next year? It’s early to tell, but some seem to already be hoping so. It doesn’t even sound too far-fetched, looking at the way the player has been moving through the sport recently, and how fast he’s gone through certain milestones. There is about half a year to go before the qualifiers for the 2020 PGA Championship though, which is plenty of time to polish his skills even further – and he’s shown himself to be the kind of player who would take full advantage of that.
