United Goalkeeper David de Gea Dominates Both Arsenal and Social Media

It’s certainly been a #DaveSaves kind of night, as Manchester United currently lead 3-1 at Arsenal (they would go on to win by that margin), with Red Devils #1 David de Gea registering seven saves in the first half and 12 through the first 67 minutes. One of those saves was even off his own teammate, Romelu Lukaku, and the own goal that almost happened, certainly had social media buzzing, and deservedly so.

United got two goals from Jesse Lingard and another from Antonio Valencia to provide the lead, despite the fact that Arsenal have dominated the game. The Gunners have retained huge advantages all afternoon/evening long in possession, shots and shots on goal.

Early in the second half, De Gea did concede to Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette, who was supposedly ruled out of this match all week. So much for that. De Gea finished with 14 saves, tying the Premier League record set on two previous occasions- Tim Krul for  newcastle in 13-14, vino mannone 13-14 saves sta 03-04

While De Gea didn’t register a clean sheet, he is still the number trending term on Twitter in the country right now, so let’s take a look at what some people are saying about the #1 who is truly in world’s greatest goalkeeper form today.

Here’s a small sample of some of the better and more interesting tweets that we saw.
