Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku will miss tomorrow night’s Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion, and it’s possible that his league season is now over. The main concern right now, as he battles back from an ankle injury that he suffered against Arsenal last week, is to have him back for the FA Cup final May 19.
When asked about Lukaku’s injury during a press opportunity today, United manager Jose Mourinho replied: “I don’t know, I just know that of course not tomorrow, apart from that we need to wait for more scans, more time.”
“Hope so [Lukaku will be back for the FA Cup final]. Looks positive.”
There is no set time table for United’s leading scorer this season, but obviously he’s doing all he can to make sure he’s fit to face one of his former teams in Chelsea, at the national stadium, in a little over a fortnight from now.
According to NBC Sports, the forward, who has already eclipsed his personal best in single season goals scored this season, is spending his time rehabilitating at Move to Cure in Antwerp, a facility once also reportedly used by Marouane Fellaini, a teammate for both club and country.
The FA Cup presents the last opportunity for both United and Chelsea to obtain their first trophy this season.
