Right now the Golden Boot Award race is a dual between strikers Romelu Lukaku of Manchester United (5/2) and Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur. Both have been in top notch, world class form thus far for their Premier League title contending teams.
Lukaku has scored 11 times in his last 10 games, replacing the production of the injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic from last season, and then some. Meanwhile Kane is drawing comparisons from Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi from his teammates.
Of course, the deciding factor in who wins the Premier League scoring title could ultimately be health and fitness, and this week sees some injury concern from United on Lukaku, as the £75 million summer addition rests while on international duty with Belgium.
Right now, with 7/4 odds showing, the punters seem convinced Kane will claim his third Golden Boot in a row, as just under 42% of bets this month have been on the Spurs Englishman. He’s truly had an unbelievable September of scoring.
Lukaku is being backed at 5/2 odds right now while Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero was 3/1 third favorite before his unfortunate accident, and is now down at 10/1. His teammate Gabriel Jesus may be one to watch at 17/2, while Alvaro Morata is a surprising best odds of 14/1. No doubt his injury, which could be long term, is the reason he’s not receiving more favorable odds.
