Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku, two 24-year-old footballing superstars, share an agent in Mino Raiola. In the case of Lukaku moving from Everton to Manchester United, Raiola had another agent working alongside him in Pogba. The bromance between Lukaku and Pogba has been well documented, especially these past couple of weeks.
We’ve seen Pogba and Lukaku, currently on vacation in Los Angeles, play some 5-a-side together, workout together at UCLA, United’s official training site for their USA exhibition tour, and party together, along with NBA superstar Serge Ibaka on the Fourth of July.
Of course, you can’t forget the moment when Lukaku told Paul Pogba that his transfer to United was finalized. You can watch Pogba dance in celebration at this link. Lukaku has spoken publicly for the first time since he left Goodison Park for Old Trafford, and the recruiting efforts of Paul Pogba was a primary topic. (so was the bromance between the too young men!)
“I’ve been talking to [Pogba] for about seven or eight years. And now he’s living in Manchester,” Lukaku told ESPN FC’s Alexis Nunes in an exclusive interview.
“I live in Manchester. He lives like down the road from where I live, so we’re together on a daily basis.”
“He was explaining to me how it went at the club, and it triggered something in my head. When the opportunity came, I didn’t have to think twice. I’m really excited.
“All of [the Man United players]. I think they’re all top players, a good group of guys that is hungry to win trophies.”
Pogba became the most expensive player in history last summer, when United brought him back for £89.3m. Lukaku, the runner-up for the Premier League Golden Boot Award this past season, now becomes the fourth most expensive (Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale).
It doesn’t appear that the topic of Lukaku’s arrest in L.A. a week ago, a misdemeanor citation that landed him a Los Angeles Country court date in October, came up in this interview.
