Manchester United dominated at CSKA Moscow yesterday in UEFA Champions League action. Tomorrow Manager Jose Mourinho will meet the media for his weekly news conference, and then Saturday it’s Crystal Palace at Old Trafford in league play, before starting another international break.
In the mean time, here’s a collection of Man United news stories circulating around the internet.
-Mourinho said he’s worried about the quick turnaround and lack of rest between last night and the weekend fixture. Additionally he singled out five players for their superlative performances yesterday. (Football 365)
“(Chris) Smalling and (Victor) Lindelof had very good performances, (Ander) Herrera has not started a match in a long time and had a good performance, so did Anthony Martial – and I am speaking about the players who are not starting matches.”
“The Premier League is another story. We play Saturday three o’clock against a fresh team and we have to play after this match.
“We have to keep our feet on the ground, stay humble and follow our direction because we are having a very good start to the season. We have started competitions strong in August and September and have now just one more game, a difficult one.”
“They are amazing numbers for Romelu. He is humble and wants to learn and improve all the time. I think ambition is there and I trust he can keep performing for us. It is a great achievement but it is only possible with a good team. Without a good team it is not possible and the team is playing well.”
-Club legend Gary Neville has named Atletico Madrid star, and summer transfer window target Antoine Griezmann as the one player he would like to see Manchester United sign more than any other
“We can get a lot better. I’d like to see one more flair player in the team,” Neville told Stretty News TV. (quote transcription via Football 365)
“I’d like to see a winger who can beat a man and get everyone on the edge of their seat.
“Having been in Spain for four months, I love Griezmann. I would love to see Griezmann at United. He’s quick, he’s inventive, he can beat players [and] he can score goals.”
-CharityStars.com, a firm that has previously worked with Sir Bobby Charlton and Lionel Messi, among many other celebrities, is now partnering with Cristiano Ronaldo. The firm is auctioning off the opportunity to attend one of Ronaldo’s home games at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid, and also watch Ronaldo in live practice:
something usually reserved for close family and friends. Once the winners have seen him in action on the pitch, they’ll be whisked off for a private one-to-one meet and greet with the Portuguese football star.
This auction closes on 12 October 2017. The highest bid currently stands at just under £7,500 and proceeds will support The Forever Dream Foundation, a charity that provides inspiring experiences to underprivileged children and their families.
