The future of Nemanja Matic is one of the top trending topics in the football universe today amidst reports that the Serbian is on his way from Chelsea to Manchester United. Reports claim he is undergoing his United medical today and could be announced as the Red Devils’ third summer signing by tomorrow.
In his most recent media opportunity, Chelsea Manager Antonio Conte brushed aside a query on this topic.
“I know nothing about this,” Conte responded to a reporter’s question. “You have to ask the club.”
According to the BBC: “Italian champions Juventus were also understood to be keen on Matic.” Matic’s departure had been expected ever since Stamford Bridge signed Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco.
Getting to the other end of this transfer deal that is apparently closing soon, Mourinho said: “I’m waiting for news. I know that he wants the move very, very much. I think we have a chance but in football until things are official you never know.”
“No.31 is a free jersey, I don’t know if he was there as I haven’t been there today.”
Now we play the waiting game, but it seems extremely likely that Mourinho is about to get his desired third signing of the summer and the holding/defensive midfielder that he has been aggressively targeting since the spring.
