Just in case you haven’t had enough David de Gea to Real Madrid transfer speculation narrative in your life, don’t worry we’ve got you covered. In case you really enjoyed the transfer saga which dominated the summer of 2015 headlines, and long for more coverage of this variety, well Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has provided the material for you.
In an interview with Spanish TV channel La Sexta, Mourinho said his former club should look elsewhere, because his #1 is staying put for now.
“I see him (De Gea) here. I do not know Real Madrid’s intentions but, if I were them, I would think of another player,” Mourinho said.
De Gea has 16 months left on his deal, but United have the option of extending another season in order to tie De Gea to Old Trafford until 2020. Still, because of several factors, he continues being linked with a move to the Bernabeu and will likely be further linked in the future.
De Gea came extremely close to joining Madrid in ’15, until a deadline day deal fell apart over a clerical work snafu. Madrid is also his hometown so you have the emotional component at work her as well. Then you have the uncertainty over the future of Los Blancos #1 Keylor Navas. Add it all up, and it doesn’t seem like “De Gea to Real Madrid??” will be going away anytime soon.
