Time for your daily update on the Romelu Lukaku transfer saga/negotiations with Inter Milan. New Inter boss Antonio Conte wants to finally get his man in Big Rom, the one that got away while he was in charge at Chelsea. Conte has now openly said so, proclaiming the big Belgian “an important player for his side.”
It was reported yesterday that £75 million will be enough to get the deal done, but the Serie A side is now hesitant to pull the trigger on this transaction, and this indecisiveness has the former Italy boss irate.
Well, it certainly didn’t take too long for Conte to clash with his new club over transfer decisions (something that truly defined his tenure at Chelsea).
“You know I like this player,” Conte is quoted by the BBC.
“In the past, when I was Chelsea’s coach, I tried to bring him to Chelsea. As I said before, I like this player and consider him an important player for us to have a good improvement but at the same there is a transfer market.
“We know very well which is our situation at the moment and we will see what happens but for now Lukaku is a United player.”
So there you have it- Conte and Lukaku both want this move, but it’s up to the businessmen involved, on both sides of the equation, to make it happen. Football is big money, and there are some large figures involved in this potential deal.
They only have about three weeks to get it all sorted out before the summer transfer window closes.
