Manchester United have made Real Madrid’s Angel di Maria their primary target this January according to Spain’s Mundo Deportivo.

The winter transfer window will likely be more interesting and exciting for United than the summer transfer window; which was largely uneventful. The retaining of Wayne Rooney was the only headline to emerge of the signing period. January will be much different.

From The People’s Person

Reports claim the arrival of Gareth Bale has rocked Angel Di Maria’s boat and that United are willing to fork out €21 million to secure his services, a figure which goes some way short of his €50 million release clause. Angel Di Maria already has a small place in the hearts of United fans after he rejected a move to Manchester City from Benfica when they met his release clause back in 2010 and he is certainly a talented winger.

The Daily Star reported the offer to Angel Di Maria at a slightly lower price; they reported 17 million pounds for the Argentine winger. Angel Di Maria, who joined Madrid from Benfica in 2010, has a release clause inserted into his contract which is believed to be around £42m.

Angel Di Maria started his professional football career in 2005 when he made his debut for Rosario Central. In January 2007, he had an opportunity to play in the Russian Premier League when Rubin Kazan offered him a contract. At first, he agreed, but soon afterwards, he changed his mind and turned down the offer.[4] After putting up a remarkable performance in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup, playing for Argentina, di María caught the eye of several European teams and in the end, SL Benfica signed him.
