Manchester United Transfer Talk: Donnarumma, De Ligt, Wan-Bissaka, Trippier

The rebuild of Manchester United could definitely take some time, so get ready and dig your heels in for that. The upshot is that we’ll have a summer transfer window filled with many comings and goings.

And with Manchester United linked to approximately 97,324 players already, the time is right for some Red Devils transfer talk on this lovely Sunday. We begin with Gianluigi Donnarumma, the 20-year-old goalkeeping prodigy who is considered to be the potential long term answer if David de Gea bolts next season.

We’ve covered him before. Here’s the link to part one of today’s United transfer talk.

Old Trafford are reportedly sizing up a $67 million, (€60m) move for the AC Milan goalie with Football Italia claiming the Serie A club needs to sell off some assets in order to trim down the deficit they’re running via Financial Fair Play protocol.

Donnarumma could be a balance sheet casualty for the once proud club which has recently fallen from grace.

-Elsewhere, United are after a Tottenham Hotspur defender, maybe, and this time it’s not Toby Alderweireld. United, perhaps as part of the theory that they should shop domestically, want Spurs right back Kieran Trippier, but know that dealing with Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy is a royal pain; due to his notorious hardball negotiating tactics.

Which is why they’ll turn to Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka instead, according to the Daily Mail. The Mail writes that “Wan-Bissaka, whose current deal expires in 2022, would cost somewhere in the region of £45m.”

Finally, former United boss Louis van Gaal wants his fellow Dutchman, Ajax superstar and well known United target Matthijs de Ligt to join Manchester City, not United. Here’s his explanation as to why at this link. The Iron Tulip believes De Ligt would learn more and develop better under Pep Guardiola.
