Injured Liverpool star and former Chelsea man Mohamed Salah gave props to two well known figures in football who inspired him during his days at Stamford Bridge. Salah said he learned a lot from his former Blues boss (now leading Manchester United) Jose Mourinho and his ex-teammate at Stamford Bridge, Frank Lampard.

Giving an interview to Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer for BT Sport, Salah, who broke the Premier League single season scoring record said: “I learned a lot from Jose, from the club.”

“We would meet each other in Chelsea, and with you (Lampard), you always used to train alone after the training and I saw you do that, I would always come to you and try to improve, and I learned a lot.”

Salah scored only two goals in just 13 appearances for Chelsea from 2014-16, as he spent most of his time with the club away on loan to two different Serie A sides, Fiorentina and Roma. He currently faces a massive race against time to be fit for the World Cup in a little over two week, although Salah is confident he’ll be on the pitch in Russia, playing for his home country of Egypt.

Salah suffered a dislocated shoulder injury during Liverpool’s 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final. The Egyptian collided with Madrid defender Sergio Ramos, who flashed a sinister smile upon seeing Salah leaving the pitch in tears.

It was an extremely tough moment for neutrals watching the game, because Salah seems to be one of the game’s overall good guys. His heroics have even inspired fans to convert to Islam.
