Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has been playing out of this world so far in 2018-19. His form has been elite, showing the football world exactly why Real Madrid was willing to pay so much money for him, had they been given the opportunity. He came off the bench to provide the game winning goal in the 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over Liverpool this week, giving him six scoring strikes in seven matches this term.
Despite his reaching new heights under manager Maurizio Sarri that he didn’t realize under Antonio Conte or Jose Mourinho, there seems to be a consensus that he hasn’t hit his ceiling yet. Sarri believes we still haven’t seen the best of the Belgian.
“We have seen only 70%, 75%, 80% of his potential,” said Sarri at his Friday news conference ahead of the weekend’s headline fixture against Liverpool.
“If he is able to improve, he will be the best in the world.”
The Italian was then asked where specifically Hazard can improve himself, and he responded thusly:
“With more intensity in training. If he is able to improve in training, maybe he will be able to use himself at 100%. It is very difficult to compare him with other players. He is a genius. He’s unique.”
Eden Hazard and company handed Liverpool the first loss of the season in any competition at Anfield on Wednesday night. Tomorrow they will look to give the Reds their first league blemish of the young season.
