Chelsea FC Transfer Talk: Gary Cahill, Christian Pulisic

The mid November international break is certainly the perfect time to talk some transfer rumors, as the January window will be here before you know it. Today we focus on Chelsea FC, and we begin with the latest on captain Gary Cahill. The team skipper holds this position despite the fact that he pretty much never plays, seeing the pitch just once in Premier League competition this term, and that appearance came off the bench.

The defender said back in September that he will have to leave Stamford Bridge if his playing time doesn’t increase, and right now it looks like that’s where the situation is headed.

The English international has been linked with several clubs in England: Manchester United, Southampton, West Ham, his boyhood club Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday. That first one is especially intriguing, because not only would Chelsea be selling to a direct rival, but it would also see a Cahill-Jose Mourinho reunion.

Now Corriere dello Sport is linking him with a move to AC Milan, who are currently in the midst of a crisis in the back line. The Alessio Romagnoli injury has been a massive set back.

Next we move on to American international Christian Pulisic, who lashed out on after his USMNT was absolutely demolished by an England side that featured a lot of bench-warmers.

Maybe if Pulisic finally makes that over-discussed potential move to the Premier League he would let go of some of that angst? He’s been linked to Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur consistently in 2018.

The supposed favorite in the race to acquire him from Borussia Dortmund keeps changing, but many believe the Merseyside club were in pole position due to the Jurgen Klopp/Dortmund connection.

However, the Daily Mail says Chelsea are the front-runner now. The article maintains that Stamford Bridge will be “in a hurry and will push for the deal to be done in January – particularly with the threat of a transfer ban from FIFA looming, over their alleged recruitment of under-age players.”

Pulisic will see his current contract expire in 2020.
